These trails have been hiked by individuals vieing to do them more times than any other, those who have vied to hike them faster than anyone else. They have been hiked to draw attention to some pretty wonderful causes and attention to some pretty silly things. I ran into a guy hiking with a tuba in his pack. As long as you do no harm to the trail environment or bother anyone else, then, to each his own.
One does not need to break records or try to match what someone else did out there on those beautiful, natural healing, footpaths. Just a half days walk on any one of them can be a pleasant natural source of therapy. America is so blessed to have them. Did you know, the variety of plant life in all of Europe comes to 1/3 of that on the Appalachian Trail alone! Foreighners flock here to hike our trails and yet many Ameicans aren't aware of their existence. It is my desire to inform as many as possible and make them aware of what we have in these wonderful and soul inspiring pathways to beauty. Please use the links provided and find out about these trails, if at all possible get out there and change your life by hiking them! These trails and the wonderful people who maintain them need our support.

The Pacific Crest Trail
I've never hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, so I cannot give an experienced view of the accuracy and the beneficial aspects of the Pacific Crest Trail Atlas. Some very experienced hikers, including triple crown hiker, Nimblewill Nomad, have however, giving the Atlas the highest of praises as the manual to use when hiking the PCT. I have however, met the author, Erick the Black, and I can vouch for his love and respect of the PCT and his personal appreciation for the therapy and inner healing possible from hiking America's beautiful long-distance hiking trails. I have no doubt, Erik has put his absolute best into creating the Pacific Crest Trail Atlas.

My good friend, Winton Porter, has released his book detailing his experiences
operating an outdoor outfitter store, Mountain Crossings, in the only building which the Appalachian Trail actually passes through in it's 2,175 mile distance.

There may be a boot out there somewhere which is comparable to my Danner's... but I've never found it! Remember... I've walked over 21,000 miles! I love my Danner's!!

I have tried other tents, but none have come even close to meeting my needs the way the Hilleberg Akto has. When properly pitched, it withstands a storm like a Sherman tank!

Hey! Check this guy out, Karl Bushby started in 1998 to walk around the world in unbroken footsteps. He has already crossed from Alaska to Siberia! He is not expected to finish until at least 2010?

It was the Appalachian Trail where Doctor Nature healed me with "Trail Therapy". The good Doctor could have used one of many others. America lays claim to the longest continuous hiking trails in the world! The Appalachian Trail is the worlds longest continuous marked trail, 2,175 miles. The Continental Divide Trail will be 3,100 miles long when completed! It is currently about 70% complete. The longest completed trail in America, 2,650 miles and believed by many to the most beautiful... the Pacific Crest Trail. We are truly blessed! May Life bless those wonderful individuals who started them as well as those who maintain them and help guarantee their continued existence!
